‘Take Me Where My Heart Is’ was recorded live in a room full of London’s finest young musicians. It was produced by Ollie Clark in his home studio and contains elements recorded on a phone and one of the most vicious vocal performances of Caitlin’s work to date.

She’s been on a rollercoaster of live gigs and recording sessions, traveling all over the UK to write with different people and playing impromptu shows in bars and pubs. Since winning young musician of the year back in September she’s finished two new records, TMWMHI being the first, and is now writing feverishly for a full EP to be recorded in the new year.

Production notes

This was a beautiful multitrack to work on. Everything was tight and minimally arranged, the musicians locked together in time and Caitlin’s vocal sliding cleanly in and out of focus. We took an incredibly delicate approach to the mix; we simply tamed a few peaks and made space (with the most transparent EQ we could find) for everything to live happily together.

Caitlin’s vocal needed very little help, we simply automated a 15ips slapback delay to give the choruses more bite and ran her through a neve 1073 preamp for a bit of color. It’s a fantastic production from some masterful performers and recordists.
